Washington Redskins Benching Robert Griffin III for Colt McCoy? Possibly...

When Colt McCoy got the start against the Dallas Cowboys a few weeks ago it was like a dream come true--one last start in the NFL when for all intents and purposes his career was over. Afterwards it was back to the bench and a life of NFL obscurity--but than it happened. Robert Griffin III returned from injury and struggled. So the calls from the fans to give Colt another try began.

And it appears that they have been answered.

It has noit been officially announced by the team yet, but the rumor floating around the internet is that the Redskins are going to sit RG3 this week and start Colt McCoy against the Indianapolis Colts Sunday.

Word is that this is not expected to be a permanent thing; that RG3 is still in the long-term plans for the team. Should McCoy perform like he did against the Cowboys though there is no way Gruden can take him out.

Gruden has made it pretty clear that Griffin is not his man, but someone he inherited from the previous administration. A couple of good games from McCoy could be all he needs to send the former Heisman winner packing.

Or this could all be smoke and mirrors from the oh so reliable 'source'...
