WATCH: San Francisco 49ers Give Jim Harbaugh a Gatorade Bath in Final Game

What a long, strange, trip it has been for the San Francisco 49ers this season. Why they went from Super Contender to a .500 team will be something plenty of folks will debate over the coming months, but one game will not be a part of the conversations-- former head coach Jim Harbaugh.

It's official--he is done in San Francisco. As a way of say thanks for everything some of the players gave him a Gatorade shower after the team beat the Arizona Cardinals Sunday.

The expectation is that he will be headed to Michigan from here, but true to form he is being as tight-lipped about his future as he can be. When asked if he is going to miss the NFL he responded by asking if it was going anywhere.

The appeal of a Michigan is pretty obvious, but I'm a little surprised that he is willing to leave the NFL after just a few years. As highly competitive as he is after coming so close to reaching the pinnacle of football success--a Super Bowl title--you'd think he would want to remain in the NFL till he won it.

It's not like he isn't any good at coaching at the NFL level (like Nick Saban). He just couldn't get along with the 49ers front office.
