DeAngelo Williams Tweets Video Talking About Getting Cut From the Carolina Panthers

At this time of year football fans are given a harsh reminder that the NFL is indeed a business. Sometimes teams have to let popular players go. It doesn't matter how popular they are or how well they have played over the years. It's a matter of weighing how well the player is playing now with how much he is getting paid and whether they really need him.

Well--it appears that the Carolina Panthers have decided they no longer need the services of running back DeAngelo Williams.

Williams posted a video to Twitter talking about the moment when he was told he was being let go:


Whenever his release does become official, it would not be shocking to see him claimed off of waivers by someone. If he isn't, he will be picked up by someone prior to training camp at least. He is no spring chicken anymore, but he is still a  good running back.

    DeAngelo has been a great player and a high-quality member of both the team and the community since the day he first donned a Panthers uniform. He's the epitome of true class and will be sorely missed by the fans. Signed, season ticket holder for the Panthers since 1998
