College football players have it good these days. Not necessarily while they are in college, but when it comes to options after college. Of course everyone wants to play in the NFL and make millions, but everyone can't. In the past that would mean they are done playing football, but not anymore. Now there are other options. They will not make anyone a millionaire, but they will allow them to keep playing. As long as you are still playing there is a chance the NFL could come calling.
Like it did for former West Virginia linebacker and Indoor Football League player Josh Francis.

With Brad Jones and A.J Hawk no longer on the roster the Packers need some help at linebacker and decided that they would look for it by signing Wichita Falls Nighthawks linebacker Josh Francis. He would not be the first player signed from an indoor football team although the majority come from the more well-known Arena Football League.
After his senior season with the Mountaineers he had a good workout during West Virginia's Pro Day where he ran a 4.65-second forty-yard dash, and put up 25 reps on the bench press. It wasn't enough to make an NFL team bite, but he was able to stay in the game thanks to the IFL. From the look of this video the Nighthawks posted on Facebook it appears that Francis has not lost a step.
He is still likely a long shot to make the 53-man roster at the end of training camp, and it is entirely possible that the team lets him go long before training camp even starts. Only time will tell.
