Miami Dolphins Looking to Deal Mike Wallace to the Seahawks?

This is that time of year for NFL fans that is both glorious and excruciating all at the same time. It is great if your team is able to resign it's major players and possibly even pick up a free agent or two, but it sucks if you are forced to watch one of your favorite players walk or be traded because of salary cap issues.

Fans of the Miami Dolphins may not like to hear this, but fans in Seattle will. There is a chance that the Dolphins may try to trade wide receiver Mike Wallace to the Seahawks.

There is no reason to think that this is going to happen just yet; just that it could. From Seattle's end, the Seahawks could use a deep threat like Wallace making him a good addition to their arsenal, but why on Earth would the Dolphins let him go?

For one, he complains too much. He'll do it even if the team wins because he wants to see the ball more. More and more teams are becoming concerned with negative influences in the locker room and Wallace could be viewed as one.

He has produced during his time with the Dolphins catching 140 balls for 1,792 yards and 15 touchdowns in two seasons, but when you compare his production to what he is getting paid it is not enough (Wallace signed a 5-year extension worth $60 million in 2013). He is getting top five money, but his production is no where near the top five.

With Ryan Tannehill set to become a $100 million man and other areas in need of attention the Dolphins could use the $5.5 million in cap space cutting him or trading him would create. Since the benefit is the same whether they cut him or trade him they might as well try to trade him.

So--why Seattle?

The Seahawks love to throw the deep ball and could use a deep threat with a little more experience than Chris Mathews.

Of course the question would be whether Seattle wants to deal with his attitude, but since he'll be on a contender maybe it will not be as bad. Perhaps some of the influences in the locker room will help him get over his issues because he will likely not as many balls thrown his way than he did the last two years (257).
