Ravens RB Justin Forsett Open to Leaving Baltimore for a Team Willing to Commit

Prior to the start of the 2014 season the Baltimore Ravens had one of the better running backs in the league in Ray Rice. When the season ended they still had one of the better running backs in the league except his name was Justin Forsett. After the team suspended and eventually cut Rice because of his legal issues they floundered for a bit trying to figure out who was going to be the man in the backfield.

Eventually they figured out that Forsett was going to be the man and now they have to decide if he is going to be the man for years to come or if they are going to let him walk, something he is prepared to do.

Next season Forsett will be going on his seventh year in the NFL. Should he end up signing with another team in the offseason it will be his fifth. He spent his first three in Seattle, then had a year in Houston and Jacksonville before landing in Baltimore last year. The Ravens only signed him to a one year deal though so he is set to become a free agent.

Many teams would love to have a guy that carried the ball the year before 235 times for 1266 yards. Should the Ravens not show they want to make a commitment to him he is ready to leave town and go to a team that is.
"Yeah, definitely, I want to return back in Baltimore and play in this city but I'm really looking for a commitment," Forsett said. "Throughout my whole career, bouncing back and forth — I want a stable place, stable team. Wherever that comes, you know, I'm open for it. So, I'm just playing it by ear right now and of course, I'll listen to any offers out there right now."
He played well enough last season to warrant being given a good deal by someone, if not the Ravens. The problem he may run in to in getting the deal that he wants though is his age. Forsett is already getting close to being old for a running back, 29.

He'll turn 30 next season , the age where running backs typically start to decline. So yes, he was great last year, but does anyone want to make a financial commitment and trust that he can do it for three or four more years?

We'll find out in a few weeks.
