Last season the Detroit Lions had one of the toughest defenses in the NFL, but that will change should someone else offer Ndamukong Suh more money.

The #Lions will not place the franchise tag on DT Ndamukong Suh.

To be fair, the franchise tag would have cost the Lions a boatload on Suh. Since he was paid $22.4 million last season and the tag would have increased his salary by 120 percent to do so would have cost them $26.8 million.
The Lions are still talking with Suh and are hopeful that they can make a deal. They will have till March 10 before other teams will also have a shot.
