Associated Press Tells Writers Not to Say Dingers, Jacks, or Bombers Anymore

For most folks this will mean absolutely nothing. Those folks probably get most of their sports news off of ESPN or Fox Sports 1 and don't really read much online or in the papers. However, for those that do it could mean the beginning of a new era in sports writing since writers are going to have to think up some different nicknames for things.

As long as they are not cliches that is.

The AP has revamped its style book and in the process made a few changes to how sports writers are suppose to say a few things:

I don't see anything wrong with dingers. I have on occasion used 'unanswered points', but I don't think I have ever used 'never looked back.' However, hackneyed words and phrases, redundancies and exaggerations? That's the life blood of blogging!

As long as I can still say 'cool as the other side of the pillow.'
