Baylor to Make 390 Pound Offensive Lineman LaQuan McGowan a Tight End

During the Cotton Bowl college football fans went nuts when the Baylor Bears lined up a 390-pound offensive lineman, LaQuan McGowan, at tight end and then when Bryce Petty actually threw to him and he caught it? And ran it in for a touchdown? Fans everywhere pretty much went wild, but after they calmed down many pondered one question.

Why not do that more often?

If you have a big man like that who can catch and run why not get him the ball a little more often? He is undoubtedly going to have to be gang tackled. It would take one heck of an effort for any one defender to take him down solo.

Art Briles agrees so during spring drills they are giving it a try.
“We’re looking at him as kind of a slot and tight end type of guy,” Baylor coach Art Briles said. “He can certainly help us in the run game in those situations. The way we’re looking at it is we’ve got three games in nonconference to kind of feel it out and see what he can do and teach him what to do in live action.”
I don't get real excited about non conference games since they usually suck, but Baylor's just became worth watching. I see many Fat Guy Plays of the Day in LaQuan's future....
