Fans of the Indianapolis Colts have been waiting to hear whether longtime wide receiver Reggie Wayne was going to retire or not. The team was waiting to hear as well, but it looks like they decided to move on from Wayne regardless of whether his playing days are done.
The team announced Friday that it will not be resigning the 14-year veteran.

Wayne has done a lot in his 14 years catching 1,070 receptions for 14,345 yards and 82 touchdowns from Peyton Manning and Andrew Luck. He was one of the few veterans that remained with the team when the Chuck Pagano and Ryan Grigson Era began. His 2013 season was cut short by injury which opened the door for T.Y. Hilton to step up and take over as the team's primary option--and he did.
Last season was definitely not a good one by his standard with just 64 catches for 779 yards and two touchdowns. Was it because he has lost a step or because the team was leaning on Hilton and the tight ends more? Who knows.
The next question will be whether he wants to continue playing or retire. At 36 he is definitely past his prime, but when healthy he could still provide someone with a solid No. 2 option and should come cheap.
