Is Matt Schaub's Career Over?

In a perfect world every NFL player wants to retire after winning the Super Bowl (after scoring the winning touchdown, being named MVP, and going to Disney Land). Sadly, most of the time that is not the case, but most guys at least hope to go out of their own accord. They don't want to leave because of injuries or because they can't find another job.

Now that Matt Schaub has been released by the Oakland Raiders one has to wonder if the former Virginia Cavaliers time in the NFL is done.

Schaub is not exactly young at the age of 33 and he has been in the league for over a decade so it wouldn't be shocking to see him retire. More than likely that is something that Schaub will not even think about until he gives the free agent market a good test.

But considering how he has played over the last two seasons is anyone going to sign him?

His trouble really began back in 2012. In the latter half of the season the Texans struggled on offense and really had to lean on the running game with Schaub struggling. His struggles not only continued in 2013, but got even worse. That was when he became known as the King of the Pick-6 after throwing one in five consecutive games.

He played so poorly over the course of his final season in Houston the Texans could not get rid of him soon enough. The Raiders must not have watched any film of him over the last year and actually traded for him. Thanks too Derek Carr he was not needed much, but when he did play he still looked awful.

It has been over two seasons since Schaub has played well. If he does make a roster it will be shocking if anyone pays him a penny over the veteran minimum.
