New 49ers WR Torrey Smith Apologizes to San Francisco Fans For Super Bowl XLVII

For Torrey Smith last season was a contract year. He needed to prove to the Baltimore Ravens that they couldn't do without him by having an awesome year. He ended up finishing the season with 49 catches for 767 yards and 11 touchdowns. It was not enough to convince the Ravens they had to have him, but it was enough to convince the 49ers they did.

So they signed him to a five year, $40 million deal with $22 million guaranteed. To show his gratitude to the team he made an apology to the fans.

Smith apologized for being a part of the Baltimore Ravens squad that defeated the 49ers in Super Bowl XLVII, 34-31.
“I’m sorry to the fans that I was a part of that, but now we’re trying to make things right,” Smith said, smiling. “Let’s win one out here. I think that would be a good thing.”
He only had two catches for 35 yards in the game so it isn't like he had a whole lot to do with the win, but hey--it's the thought that counts, right?
