When a player is taking a healthy lead off the base it tends to send a message to the pitcher that maybe--just maybe--he should try to pick him off. Wednesday night Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw had the perfect opportunity to pick off Giants outfielder Nori Aoki. His first baseman was on the bag and Aoki was taking a big lead. The stage was set.
