When
Adam Wainwright went down Saturday with an Achilles injury against the Bucks the Cardinals were not thinking it was the perfect time to make history, but they went ahead and did so anyway when they sent reliever Mitch Harris to the mound. When he threw out his first pitch he became the first Naval Academy grad to pitch in a MLB game in almost a century (Nemo Gaines back in 1921).
To make it even better he struck out his first batter!

Harris has been a part of the Cardinals farm system since 2013. Before that he was busy fulfilling his commitment as an Academy grad by doing his duty in the Navy. He ended up going 1 1/3 innings giving up two hits and two walks to go with his strikeout.
