Miami Dolphins Say They Never Offered Michael Crabtree Any Deal

The Miami Dolphins are in need of a wide receiver and recently visited with free agent wide receiver Michael Crabtree (March 19). The former Texas Tech standout left without signing a contract and remains on the market. If you believe some of the reports that have been circulating it is because the Dolphins didn't offer him enough money. Rumor has it they offered $3 million/season and he wanted $4.5.

However, according to the Dolphins no offer was ever made.

According to the PalmBeachPost the Dolphins never made an offer to Crabtree, and for the team's sake hopefully that is true. If it is not true and Crabtree did have an offer for $3 million/season he is an idiot for not taking it.

He has done nothing to prove he is worth $2 million/season let alone $3 or 4.5 million. He has only one 1000 yard season out of six and has never made it to the Pro Bowl (which is not exactly hard to make). Last season he caught just 68 balls for 698 yards for a career low 10.3 yards/catch.

Coming out of college he was the kind of guy that never missed a catch and could turn a short out route in to a long run, but that was then. Now he is just another guy in a uniform.

If Crabtree is smart he will take whatever deal he is offered (if he is offered).
