There was just one problem. He's a pretty good baseball player too. So good that he is expected to go in the first round of the MLB draft.

Opting out of the MLB draft. Looking forward to continuing my football and baseball career at Texas A&M University. See ya down the road!

It's not entirely surprising. He has been hampered by a shoulder injury this season which has relegated him to just playing DH. Teams know that he has a chance to play football at an SEC school and would have to give him a nice bonus to convince him to play baseball.
Maybe they know they just have to wait a few years, let him grow as a player for the Aggies (because he does plan on being a two sport athlete), and than take him after his college career winds up. At that point they will not likely have to deal with football anymore because he is a bit on the small side for an NFL quarterback (5'11" and 170 pounds).
He can put on some more weight, but enough without losing any of his speed and elusiveness? Doubtful.
Now the question becomes whether he will beat out Kyle Allen now and play next season or have to sit for a year or two.
