Rugby Star Turned San Francisco 49er Jarryd Hayne Taking Cheat Sheet To Practice Field

Many sets of NFL eyes are paying attention to how rugby league star Jarryd Hayne does with the San Francisco 49ers. If he pans out there will likely be several other teams making trips to Australia to scout teams for NFL caliber talent. Of course the hard part is teaching someone who has played one game his entire life how to play another one.

It is not an easy process so to ease the growing pains Hayne has been doing something seldom seen if ever on a football field.

He's bringing a cheat sheet out to the practice field.

Fellow running back Carlos Hyde commented on it recently: “He goes out to walk-through with a cheat sheet,” Hyde said. “That’s the first time I’ve seen anyone go out there with notes.”

As strange as it seems it makes sense. How better to learn the game than to review his notes while playing it? Yes, he could review his notes while watching film, but this way he can try to put it in to practice sooner rather than later.

To be honest, you kind of have to wonder why no one else has ever done it. If it helps his game and he makes the roster we will probably see more in the future.

Hayne is far from a lock to make the roster, but the 49ers were willing to guarantee him $116,000 so they must have high hopes for his NFL future.
