Tampa Bay Buccaneers Find Their Running Back of the Future in Charles Sims?

The stage is set for a running back to succeed in Tampa Bay. The team has the quarterback of the future in place now with No. 1 draft pick Jameis Winston. He is going to have plenty of targets to throw to so the passing game should be fine. The question is whether the team is going to have a running game.

If they keep giving the ball to Charles Sims the answer is yes.

Sims did not get much work last season, but when the Bucs gave him an honest shot at the end of the season he did not do half bad gaining 69 yards and scoring one touchdown on 18 carries. Not much to go on, huh? It looks like the Bucs are willing to give the rock anyway:

Martin had his chance and did not impress. True, he did not have the offense behind him that Sims will, but so what? He had his chance. Should he still be on the roster when the season starts it would not be shocking to see him get a few carries (if he looks good in the preseason).

Otherwise it sounds as if the Bucs are going to hope that the same running back that gained 1496 yards from scrimmage (1095 rushing, 401 receiving) and scored 14 total touchdowns behind a poor West Virginia line shows up.

With the line the Bucs should have next year that should not be a problem.
