WATCH: Boston Red Sox OF Mookie Betts Scores From Second Off a Five-Foot Hit
When a base runner gets to second he is typically considered to be in scoring position since most guys have enough speed to score if a base hit makes it to the outfield (or is not fielded right). However, if a ball only makes it about five feet in front of home plate you would think the guy on second might even stay put. At the most he might take third if they try to make a play at first, but the defense might let him go in order to set up a double play.
