New York Giants Showing Interest In Former 49ers LB Aldon Smith?

When the news hit about Jason Pierre-Paul's fireworks accident the hearts of Giants fans had to drop a little bit. With the season not far away they lost their best pass rusher who also happens to be one of the best in the league. Word now is that he is going to report to the team once he is right and ready to go. So in the interim the Giants could use some serious help on defense.

They could potentially get it in the form of former 49ers linebacker Aldon Smith.

After he was dropped by the San Francisco 49ers following his fifth arrest in three seasons the word on Smith was that he may be done. With the personal issues that he is that is entirely possible. However, at the same time if monitored closely the structure that football can provide may be exactly what he needs.

Right about now he has to feel as low as he possibly can. With nothing to do and nowhere to be it has to be tempting to do some of the things that keep getting him in trouble; idle hands. It didn't work with the 49ers, but with the right supervision maybe the structure of training camp and practice is what he needs.

Rumor has it that there are several teams interested in Smith including the New York Giants.

Eventually he is going to get suspended and miss time (DUI or not), but maybe by time his case comes up Pierre-Paul will have returned.
