Big 12 Clears Texas-Oklahoma State Officiating Crew Since They Got Most Of The Calls Right [VIDEO]

For years fans of the team the Texas Longhorns played argued that Texas was on the receiving end of quite a few favorable officiating calls. However, after the Longhorns lost to Oklahoma State Saturday fans have been up in arms over the officiating. There were several calls that went against Texas that were questionable.

This personal foul on Charlie Strong was one of the worst:

Technically, it is the right call. By the rules, players and coaches are not allowed to touch the referees at all. The idea is to discourage getting physical while arguing a play, but it could be applied to the incidental brush Strong gave the official in the above clip.

However, most refs would never throw the flag on something like that. It is not what the rule is intended for, and it was not intentional. Even if it was--come on! He barely touched you!

What is almost as troubling as the calls is the response that the Big 12 has given to the complaints--the crew got most of the calls right. Big 12 officiating supervisor Walt Anderson had this to say to a local paper:
“I’ve been working on that (Texas game) all day. I’ve seen the whole tape. I evaluate every play, and I think we got the vast majority right. The good news was the vast majority of fouls were there and correctly called. Unfortunately, a couple of them were missed, and we’ll correct that. I’ve never seen one perfectly officiated, and I’m not expecting to do so.”
He has a point. No game is ever called 100 percent right, but the calls should never be as bad as some of the ones made against Texas last week.

Come on ref. Let 'em play.
