DeMarco Murray Should Be Giving The Dallas Cowboys The Death Stare--Not Sam Bradford

When the Philadelphia Eagles signed running back DeMarco Murray away from the Dallas Cowboys it seemed like a good idea at the time. Not only were they getting the NFL rushing leader, but they were taking him away from a division rival. They get stronger and the competition gets weaker, right?

That was probably the hope, but the truth of the matter has been anything but that so far this season. It kind of makes you wonder--could Dallas have figured something like this might happen?

Probably not, but the Eagles should have been a little more concerned than they were. Here they had a guy that his original team was not trying real hard to keep. Why could that be? Was it maybe the fact that he was injury prone? With the exception of last year Murray had not played a full season during his career.

That had to be a concern, but since Chip Kelly traded for Sam Bradford it was clear injury issues were not a concern.

What Chip Kelly should have seen was a guy that was destined to have a sharp decrease in production this season. Why? Easy--because the Cowboys worked him to death last year. Murray carried the ball 392 times in 2014 (80 times more than the guy with the second most, LeSean McCoy; seventh highest total in NFL history).

Nine other guys ran the ball 390 times or more during a single season. Of that group, only Eric Dickerson saw success afterwards. The rest were never the same again.

So turn that stare on your former team DeMarco. By letting you prove yourself last season they may have ruined you forever.
