Is It Too Soon To Start Believing In The Oakland Raiders? [VIDEO]

The Oakland Raiders have been the picture of dysfunction for years. The last time they had a winning season was back in 2002 when they lost the Super Bowl to the Tampa Bay Bucaneers. Since then they have finished with eight wins twice, five wins three times, four wins five times, three wins once, and two wins also once.

Sunday against the Ravens they looked pretty good. The offense was able to move against a tough Baltimore defense, and the defense was able to do enough against Joe Flacco and company.

So the question needs to be asked--is it safe to start believing in the Raiders?

With Derek Carr behind center the offense looked pretty darn good. He had 351 yards on the day to go with three touchdowns and an interception. Amari Cooper played well as did Michael Crabtree. The running game only mustered 97 yards, but they only ran it 19 times (5.1 yards/carry).

It looked like the kind of offense that can win games--and it did.

For fans it kind of has to make you wonder. Could this be the year? Will the Raiders finally leave the NFL-cellar and become a competitive team again?

As nice as it would be to say yes it is too soon to tell. Yes, the offense looks good, but the defense gave up 30+ points two games in a row. What's to say the offense is not going to slide back? Without Carr it looked like crap in Week One. Should he get injured again the offense will likely slip.

What if Amari Cooper gets hurt? Or Michael Crabtree? Can the team survive any injuries?

Probably not, but for a team that has been in the doldrums for so long the hope that they have now is  a step up from previous seasons.
