Roddy White: Don't Be Surprised If Dez Bryant Is Done For The Year

Dallas Cowboys fans had to face the possibility of losing Dez Bryant for good when he and the team couldn't come to an agreement on a contract. One game in to the season it appears there is a chance that he could be gone for the season after breaking a bone in his foot Sunday night against the New York Giants.

Initial reports have him missing just 4-6 weeks, but in the days since there has been talk that he could be out as much as 8-12 weeks. Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Roddy White thinks he could very well be done for the season.

Did Roddy suddenly become a doctor or something? Does he have a crystal ball that can see in to the future? No--he's seen the injury before.

During an appearance on SiriusXM Fantasy Sports Radio Tuesday White shared a conversation he and teammate Julio Jones had after hearing about Bryant's injury:
"Me and Julio were talking about the whole situation and he was like, when he heard that he broke his foot he was like, 'He's got the same injury I got,'" White said via ESPN. "And, you know, we had to shut him [Julio] down for the whole entire year. So I just don't see him making it back this year. Or if he does make it back it will probably be late in the playoffs, so it'll probably be around January."
It may very well depend on how the tram is doing late in the season on whether they try to bring him back. Should the team be doing fine without him they may take a more cautious approach to rehabbing Bryant's foot. No sense on rushing him back if he is not going to be vital to the team's success.

Even if the playoff race is tight they would be better off taking a cautious approach to his rehab. With the money that the team has invested they would be smart to make sure he is healthy before putting him back on the field.
