Chris Johnson Fantasy Worthy With Andre Ellington Coming Back?

For years we have been hearing about how good Chris Johnson is from the man himself. According to him his struggles were not his fault, but the fault of everyone else around him. Whatever the reason for his decline, the stats don't lie. He had gone from being one of the best in the game to someone that doesn't know when to quit in record timing.

Then he got a second shot courtesy of the Arizona Cardinals. Thanks to an injury to Andre Ellington he even got the chance to prove his worth last week against San Francisco.

Prove it he did. He didn't quite look like CJ2K, but he did look like a very good back running for 110 yards and two touchdowns on 22 carries (oh--and he had a reception that went for 40 yards). His performance was enough for Bruce Arians to say that Johnson would be getting 15-20 touches a game going forward.

However, with Andre Ellington expected back this week is that still going to be the case? According to Bruce Arians absolutely:
"He’s still going to be a 15-to-20-touch guy even when Andre Ellington comes back this week — hopefully we’ll have all three guys. Now that David Johnson has emerged, we don’t have to pound just one guy all the time.”
Of course, if he is running well Arians will go with the hot hand.

So--what does that mean for fantasy purposes? Well--the Cardinals are playing the Rams; a very tough defense. Even if he was getting 25 touches it would probably not be advisable to start Johnson. That is, as long as you have a better option.

If you don't. he could be fine, but temper your expectations because of the Rams defense. Johnson is still the starter, but Arians has said Ellington will play. However, coming off an injury don't expect to see him a lot.
