Houston Rockets Dominate Utah Jazz; Gain Some Much Needed Space in the Playoff Race

With only a slim lead over the Utah Jazz for a playoff berth and even slimmer lead on the No. 8 seed Los Angeles Lakers every win is important for the Houston Rockets as they try to close out the regular season and sew up a long-awaited return trip to the playoffs.

They took a big step in the right direction with a dominant 100-93 win over the Utah Jazz at home Wednesday night.

Houston pretty much controlled this one wire to wire. Going into the final period they had a 19-point lead n the Jazz; enough to allow them to withstand a furious rally by Utah in the final period.

With the win and a loss by the Lakers Tuesday night against Phoenix the Rockets now have a game and a half lead on them and a three game lead over the Jazz.

Next up will be a visit from the Cleveland Cavaliers. While they have had a poor season overall the Cavaliers pushed the Heat pretty hard Wednesday night nearly breaking Miami's streak in the process.

Following the Cleveland game they face four playoff bound teams before finally getting an easier opponent on April Fools Day (the Orlando Magic).
