Undefeated Season Comes to an End for Missouri Tigers After Missed Field Goal

For the majority of the game the Missouri Tigers were in control (fans looked nothing like the young lady below). The offense was playing well enough and the defense was like a impenetrable black wall that controlled the South Carolina offense. Going into the fourth quarter they even had a nice 17-0 lead

And than Connor Shaw entered the game (and eventually caused this Mizzou fan to look like this).

Shaw was just the catalyst the Gamecocks needed. The defense was already doing its part; it held Mizzou to just 114 yards in the second half. It was the offense that needed to pitch in and as soon as Shaw entered the game it did.

He did little on his first drive, but he cleaned house on his last three leading the Gamecocks on three consecutive scoring drives to tie the game up with right around a minute left.

Both teams scored touchdowns in the first overtime. The Tigers defense did its part by holding South Carolina to a field goal in the second. Matty Mauk got Mizzou off to a good start on their possession, but the drive stalled and they had to kick what should have been an easy 24-yard field goal to send the game to a third OT.

Key words--should have been.

I feel sorry for this kid. You know he is going to be crushed by this. While most (if not all) of the team will support him and be cool, the fans are going to rip him to shreds.

Folks--before you do try to remember that he is just a 19 or 20-year old kid. He's already beating himself up; no need to pile on.
