What's on Tap for the NFL Next Weekend?

Three of the four games over the wild card weekend ended up being pretty good ones. The Texans looked to regain some of their swagger against the Bengals in a 19-13 win to open the weekend.

They were followed up with a snoozer of a game between the Packers and Vikings. With Christian Ponder out and Joe Webb in the Vikings were grossly over-matched. The game was ugly to say the least (24-10 Green Bay).

Indianapolis put up a good fight, but the return of Ray Lewis seemed to really spark the defense. The absence of Bruce Arians from the Colts sideline appeared to have an effect on the Colts offense as well (24-9 Baltimore).

That was followed up by a great duel between two of the hottest rookies in the NFL. It was tempered some when Robert Griffin III was injured early on, but the Redskins left him in anyway. An RG3 that couldn't run made the 'Skins a lot easier to predict. Seattle went on to win that one 24-14.

With the wild card round over the division round is now all set. Here is the schedule:

  • Baltimore @ Denver, 4:30 PM ET on Saturday
  • Green Bay @ San Francisco, 8 PM ET on Saturday
  • Seattle @ Atlanta, 1 PM ET on Sunday
  • Houston @ New England, 4:30 PM ET on Sunday
The Seattle/Atlanta game is the only one that is not a rematch from the regular season. Green Bay took so long to find its rhythmn this season and the 49ers have changed QBs making their Week One match-up (30-22, San Francisco) no indication on how this game should go.

Denver had little trouble with Baltimore the first time. Joe Flacco will need to be a little more accurate and the defense remain as tough as it was against Indianapolis to have a chance against Peyton Manning and the Broncos.

What stands to be interesting is the Houston/New England game. The Patriots had no trouble destroying the Texans last time. However, the Texans pretty much played an all around horrible game. They only brought their B game against Cincinnati, but should Arian Foster get it going--and keep Tom Brady off the field--we could see an upset here.

I guess we'll find out in about a week!
