The rumored compensation for Darrelle Revis was pretty close to the actual thing. Tampa Bay is sending over this year's first round pick (No. 13) and either a third or fourth round pick next year.
I'm sure that part of the trade for Tampa Bay had to be an interest on Revis's part to stay with the Bucs and sign a long term deal (it only makes sense with what they were giving up). Revis and the Bucs have done that already too to the tune of six-years for $96 million, but with no guaranteed cash.
This really works out for both sides. The Jets now have the No. 9 and 13 picks. There is no reason to believe that they will fail to pick up a couple of much needed play makers.
But it is the Jets we are talking about; the Ringling Brothers of the NFL. It would not be shocking to see them pick a kicker with one and punter with the other (sure would be funny).
Tampa Bay gets a much needed presence in the secondary. With Drew Brees and Matt Ryan on the schedule twice he'll have ample opportunity to prove his worth. Since nothing is guaranteed they will not have any worries if they need to cut him too (either because he sucks or they need cap space).
So what we have here is a win-win. The Jets get some new blood (hopefully top talent, and the Bucs get a defensive boost (that they can cut at will).
