New York City Bank Robber a Hometown Fan; Wears Jets Jersey on Bank Robbing Spree

It's been tough being a fan of the New York Jets of late, but one fan has figured out how to make use of his jersey since wearing it to cheer on the team at games seems to be an exercise in futility.

He's going to throw it on while he robs a few banks--five banks to be precise.

As if these two didn't handcuff the team enough!

The spree is a pretty impressive one if you ignore the whole law-breaking side of it. Over about an hour time frame the Jets fan in question walked into five different banks, handed a teller a note demanding money, and left.

He never brandished a weapon of any sort; just passed the note. Pretty simple right?

Well, he 'won' about as much as the Jets did last season and got money from two of the five banks ($2500 at one and almost $13,000 at the other) that he hit. When the others refused he just left.

He is also believed to have been involved in another bank robbery on April 12 where the same format was employed. He got away with an undisclosed amount of cash in that case.

Now before any would-be bank robbers get any ideas this yahoo is going to get caught. Police have a picture of a person of interest that they are looking for.

Probably the only thing that can save this guy now is if he is robbing these banks in order to give back to loyal Jets season ticket holders for paying good money to suffer through games like they were saddled with last season. If that's the case,  the people might hide.

Otherwise he's getting turned in as soon as someone recognizes him.

This guy is not the only Jets fan to take to a life of crime. Apparently this man tried to rob a bank while wearing his Mark Sanchez jersey back in 2010.

I couldn't find any other info about this attempt or whether the authorities questioned Sanchez at all. There is a bit of a resemblance after all:
