Alex Rios Does His Part for the Rangers and Hits for the Cycle

Well, the bad news for Rangers fans is that their team is currently out of the playoffs and need some help from other teams in order to make it in. They have to win of course, but that's where the good news comes in--they are playing the Houston Astros and LA Angles at home to finish the regular season.

Monday night the took a step in the right direction with a 12-0 win over the Houston Astros.

Derek Holland did his part by pitching a complete game shut out. Alex Rios led the way on the offensive end by hitting for the cycle. His double in the first got the scoring started with a pair of runs crossing the plate. His home run in the fourth pushed the score out  to 9-0. In the sixth he completed the cycle by hitting a triple, knocking in another run.

To make the post season they are going to need to have a few more performances like that along with some help from the Minnesota Twins (who are preparing to play the Indians) and/or the New York Yankees (who start a series against Tampa Bay Tuesday--and are fighting for a wildcard spot themselves).
