WATCH: Highlights of One of the Best UFC Fight in History--Jon Jones vs. Alexander Gustafsson at UFC 165

As more and more details of UFC 165 became available to those of us that were not lucky enough to watch the fights I have to say one thing--when these two guys face off for a rematch (and you know there will be a rematch) I will have to find a place to watch that one!

From Gustafsson's Instagram Page

These guys messed each other up so bad they couldn't go to the post-fight press conference. The need for medical attention was too pressing. The Champ was taken away on a stretcher even!

If--who am I kidding--when you watch the highlight clip you will see just why these two guys were so messed up. These guys went at it! From what the commentators said it was the first time that Jones was taken down. Of the 10 take down attempts he tried on Gustafsson--only one was successful!

UFC 165 is going to be one to remember and not just for the heavyweight title fight. The main card had some great action:

Renan Berao's spin kick looked like something from the movies. One guy put his opponent to sleep! Another guy carried his opponent across the Octagon before delivering the slam!

From what I can see UFC 165 reminds me a lot of the original competitions; I'm talking UFC 1, 2, 3--back where it all began. Those fights were exciting, raw, action-packed bouts fought between intense opponents that were going to do whatever it took to kick the other guy's behind.

Since than I understand that the sport has to evolve, but I hate the fights where guys look to be technically proficient and win by points (that's just my opinion; I'm allowed).

UFC 165 was full of gladiators that were intent on beating their opponent--and not just on the scoreboard. Well done gentlemen. Heal up soon! We'll be looking forward to seeing you guys again!
