Katherine Webb a Factor in A.J. McCarron's Draft Slide?

You would think that a quarterback that had been a part of three national championship squads and won two would be a highly regarded draft pick. He clearly has the leadership skills needed to guide a team not to mention the game needed to get the job done--but teams were not jumping to take Alabama QB A.J. McCarron.

A lot of the talk about why has centered around his attitude, but could his lovely better half--Katherine Webb--been a factor as well? Maybe...

According to the rumor mill McCarron rubbed teams the wrong way during interviews causing many of them to be turned off by him. Many thought he was cocky and questioned his decision for not playing in the Senior Bowl.

Oh--and there was also the game manager label that he was hit with after playing with some of the best defenses in recent college football history. He didn't have to win games; just not lose them.

However, after one comment that Bengals offensive coordinator Hue Jackson made you have to wonder if his fiancé gave teams reason to pause:

The comment was a part of an interview where Jackson went to great lengths to say that McCarron is not going to take any reps from Andy Dalton and doesn't have a chance in hell of playing in front of him. The team wanted to improve its depth at QB and thought McCarron could do that.

So why mention his girlfriend?

It would be ridiculous to even suggest a team would draft a player so that a group picture of the wives could look better, but if that's not it than he has to mean it in a negative way.

Wherever she goes cameras follow. After the infamous Brent Musburger incident her popularity skyrocketed past McCarron's and has continued to explode. There is even talk that she may be a part of a reality show focused on their upcoming nuptials.

Teams hate unnecessary attention. That's why so many of them balk at the idea of doing Hard Knocks, and why so many never wanted to give Tim Tebow a look (along with questionable talent).

Katherine Web is going to bring that kind of attention, reality show or not.

Along that train of thought Katherine could have been considered an issue.
