Bears Defensive Lineman Jared Allen Building a Home for Injured War Veteran

New Chicago Bears defensive linemen Jared Allen has been a big supporter of the men and women of the Armed Forces for years. During his days with the Minnesota Vikings he even formed a charity--Homes for Wounded Warriors Foundation--to help wounded veterans make their homes handicap accessible.

Last week he returned to Minnesota in order to attend a special occasion for his charity.

For the first time his charity was doing more than help make a home handicap accessible. It was
building a new home for someone--Marine Corporal Colin Faust--from the ground up and Allen wanted to be on hand for the official ground breaking.

Faust had served in Afghanistan in 2010 where he was badly injured by an IED. The blast cost him his left leg and caused severe injuries to his right leg and left arm.

 “It’s an incredible feeling that someone has the heart and generosity to take their fame and wealth and do something for good,” Faust told KSTP-TV in Minneapolis.

Allen is also helping purchase and renovate a home along with the Army Ranger Lead the Way Fund for another wounded veteran, Army Ranger Sergeant First Class (SFC) Cory Remsburg.

Fans may not like him as a player for switching teams and going to the Vikings hated rival (the Chicago Bears), but there is no way they can be upset with the man.

Well done Mr. Allen. Well done indeed.
