Tony Romo Switches Jerseys With Caleb Hannie So He Could Sneak on to Field During Practice

Tony Romo has been biding his time on the sideline while his back continues to heal from surgery. Back surgery is no joke of course and requires time--especially since he's in his early 30s and old as far as pro athletes are concerned.

That doesn't mean he doesn't want in.

Apparently he decided to try and pull a fast one Tuesday during practice so he could take a few reps. he traded jerseys with Caleb Hannie in an attempt to get on the field. You know--because coach might not recognize him if he doesn't have No. 9 on.

The ruse almost worked too:
“He got in the huddle and broke the huddle,” coach Jason Garrett said. “It was pretty obvious the jersey was a little snug on him. That’s when I looked at it and said, ‘Get him out of the huddle.’ He’s a competitive guy, he wants to play, he wants to be out there.”
As long as it has taken for him to recover from back surgery it should come as no surprise that someone that has been playing football as long as the 34-year old Romo is getting antsy. He also had to know he was going to get busted, and probably chided for doing something foolish.

Yeah, he's close to 100 percent, but with the money the team has invested in him they really don't want him doing anything that might set him back.

That doesn't mean he can't have a little fun with Jason Garrett though.
