Bills Fan That Fell Out of Upper Deck Stands Found Guilty of Assault; Could Face Year in Jail

Remember this guy? During last season Robert Hopkins was sliding down the rail on the upper deck, fell over the side, and seriously injured the guy he landed on (Mark Bratcher). Besides getting banned from the stadium for life he was also charged with assault and reckless endangerment.

Ouch, right?

By landing on Bratcher he did cause him to suffer head, neck, and back injuries.

Hopkins argument was that the whole thing was an unfortunate accident; that he didn't mean to do it. The counterargument to that came in a video that showed him slide down the rails several times before falling over.

It took a jury about 20 minutes to say he was guilty. When his sentence is handed down September 11 he could get up to a year.

So--next time your at the game and it's kind of boring (this one was Bills/Jets so, yeah--it sucked) pull out your phone and play Words With Friends instead of risking death/serious injury and/or jail.
