Philadelphia Eagles Safety Keelan Johnson May Not Be Smart Enough to Play for Chip Kelly

When you play for Philadelphia Eagles head coach Chip Kelly you have to be pretty fast--on offense and defense. Not just fleet of foot, but you have to be able to think fast on your feet. With the speed that he likes to play the game you don't have time to stop, think, and than decided what to do. You have to process on the go.

In light of recent events it doesn't appear as if safety Keelan Johnson is capable of that.

@iLovePhila

Over the weekend Johnson was arrested for assaulting a police officer and passively resisting arrest.

In a nut shell what happened was a friend of Johnson's was getting arrested outside of a bar when Johnson decided it was a good idea to start yelling at the cops. They told him to move back--pretty standard stuff whenever they are arresting someone--he refused so a cop attempted to move him.

This is where Johnson showed a complete inability to process information the way Chip Kelly wants. Rather than take a step back, let the police do their jobs, and than bail his buddy out he shoved the cop instead.

In a word--dumb. But hey--at least he got a ride with his buddy, right?

Rumor has it that he was drinking and may have been intoxicated, but that is no excuse for his behavior. Just because the officer touched him it does not mean it is okay for him to return the favor. When you get in the way of a police officer trying to do his job you should expect him/her to get hands on and move you.

When all is said and done it will not be shocking if the charge is pled down or dropped altogether. Actually--Johnson should thank the cops. By arresting him when they did they probably kept him from doing something else stupid.
