Detroit Lions QBs to Wear Jerseys Made From 100 Percent Recycled Materials [PHOTO]

From time to time it is not unusual to see an NFL team do something unusual in order to promote a good cause. At an upcoming practice the Detroit Lions will be doing just that when the quarterbacks throw on their green jerseys. What is so special about them you ask?

They are made completely out of recycled bottles.

Each jersey was made from 21 recycled bottles. By wearing them the team is hoping to promote recycling which the team is hoping to do a whole lot of this season.

Lions president Tom Lewand said in a statement (via ESPN):
"This initiative is a reflection of the Ford family's commitment to leading in the area of sustainability. As an example, through our partnership with Repreve, we will be expanding to 500 recycling bins throughout Ford Field, making it easy for fans and guests to 'make the smart throw.'"
So far the QBs will be sporting these jerseys on Wednesday; no word on whether they will wear them more in the future.
