WATCH: Rookie Jimmy Garoppolo Throws First NFL Touchdown Pass for the New England Patriots

If Ryan Mallett was not concerned about what the future may hold for him in New England he should be after Thursday night's preseason opener. With Tom Brady not playing he and rookie QB Jimmy Garoppolo split the reps and--well, Garoppolo blew him away.

On the night Mallett was just 5-12 for 55 yards. Garoppolo on the other hand looked pretty solid completing 9-13 for 157 yards and his first NFL touchdown.

It is only preseason of course and Mallett faced the Redskins better players, but with all the trade talks that have already swirled around him this kind of game certainly doesn't bode well for his future.
