Blake Bortles Not Big on Big Ben Comparisons

It may not have happened soon enough for Jacksonville Jaguars fans, but it has happened. After a brief dalliance with Chad Henee the Blake Bortles Era is here. The No. 3 pick in the draft got his first start last Sunday against the San Diego Chargers. While it was far from perfect it was not bad, and it did show promise.

If you listen to some of the critics and analysts they are already heaping some pretty big praise on a quarterback with more interceptions than touchdowns to his name.

Many are comparing him to Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. Not a bad player to be compared to, right? He should be flattered and maybe a little honored?

Not Bortles. He's not having it.

Most of the people making the comparisons are probably thinking about his stature and style of play. The easiest way to describe those two things is to compare it to someone most if not all fans will be familair with.

Bortles probably knows that, but instead of just accepting it he recognized that he has a long way to go and has not done anything yet. So to compare him to one who has accomplished as much as Roethlisberger doesn't seem right.

In short--he's a humble guy that just wants to play football.
