Alabama Team Doctors Come to the Aid of Local Cop After LSU Game

Saturday night was a heck of a night for Alabama. LSU nearly gave the Crimson Tide more than they could handle, but in the end Nick Saban's boys were able to pull out a win in overtime. After the game was done you would think that the action would be over for the day, but that was not the case at all.

Team doctors had to jump in to action when one of the police officers in their motorcade was struck by a car.

The accident occurred a few miles from the stadium. According to a post on YellowHammmerNews he was unresponsive and clearly hurt when the doctors--who happened to have trauma experience--in the motorcade exited their vehicles to help.

The officer ended up being hurt pretty bad suffering a broken arm, leg, and fractured ribs. The doctors did everything they could for him, but were limited since all of their equipment was on the team plane already.
“We were an hour out of a huge win in front of 100,000 people and you immediately forget about that when you’re trying to save someone’s life,” Dr. Norman Waldrop said. “That’s a whole lot more important than a football game.”
Dr. Waldrop along with Dr. Lyle Cain and Dr. Benton Emblom did what they could without equipment to stabilize the officer. He had surgery later that night and is recovering nicely.
