Texas A&M Graduate Experiences Sportsmanship at its Finest While Visiting Auburn

Whenever you travel to see your team play these days you have to be at least a little concerned about how the home crowd is going to treat you. Too often we here stories about people getting harassed while visiting a stadium. There is no reason for it, but for some reason there are people that think the game is so important they have to act like morons and bullies.

So when a story that is pretty much the exact opposite surfaces it definitely needs to be shared.

The picture is hard to read (sorry, I blew it up as much as I could), but the basic gist of the story is this. During the blocked field goal return for a touchdown Layton Miller '12 celebrated with his friends and during a high-five his class ring slipped off and flew in to the hedges surrounding the field.

At halftime members of the A&M band as well as several Auburn students helped him look for it with no success. He looked more after the game, but again no luck. The next day he was allowed to come back and search, but still came up empty.

He left his contact info with someone at Auburn. On Monday that person called Layton to tell him he got someone to come out to the field with a metal detector (an A&M grad; Class of '87). When the metal detector didn't work they got down on hands and knees to look for it one more time and found it.

Here's the story as told by Layton (again--sorry it's not any bigger):

There is no better way to describe this story than to say it is awesome. Hats off to the good people that went out of their way to help Layton. You are a credit to your university.
