Texas A&M Has to Avoid Putting Nick Marshall in Clutch Situations

Saturday is going to be a rough day for Texas A&M. If the Aggies are going to have a shot at beating the No. 3 Auburn Tigers it is going to need to play an A+++ game and hope that Nick Marshall and company sleep walk through much of the game.

However, as we all know any team can win on any given Saturday (or Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday; Sunday and Monday too if you want to include the NFL). Should some things fall right for Texas A&M there is a chance at victory.

There are actually a ton of things that have to fall right. The running game has to be effective, the wide receivers need to stop dropping balls, Kyle Allen needs to calm down and play like the stud recruit he is supposed to be--and that's just on offense.

Should A&M actually generate some offense against the No. 54 defense in the nation (hmmm...) they have to do something about Nick Marshall. That is going to be easier said than done o course, but we do know there is at least one scenario they need to avoid: the Aggies can't lead by less than a touchdown at any point in the game other than the absolute end.

Sound strange? Well--it is.

It seems that Marshall is at his best when the Tigers are down by less than a touchdown this season. In those situations he has completed 80 percent of his passes (recorded four TDs) and earned a rating of 226.54 (best in the nation).

So basically the man is clutch when the team needs him to be which means the Aggies either have to blow the Tigers out of the water from the start (stop laughing) or the game needs to be a really, really high scoring affair with the Aggies down by 10 late in the game. scoring a touchdown, recovering an onside kick, and than scoring the go ahead touchdown as time expires.

Sure. No problem.
