LSU's Leonard Fournette Early Favorite For Next Year's Heisman After Music City Bowl [VIDEO]

LSU running back Leonard Fournette had a ton of expectations heaped on him coming in to his freshman season. It kind of comes with the territory when you are a 5* recruit playing for an SEC team like LSU. In his first game he crashed and burned (18 yards on 8 carries against Wisconsin), but by time the regular season ended it was clear he was going to be a back to be reckoned with.

After the game he had against Notre Dame in the Music City Bowl he is not just someone to be reckoned with--he has to be the early favorite for the Heisman next season.

In the Music City Bowl he only touched the ball 13 times, but it is what he did with it against a solid Notre Dame defense that is so impressive. With the 11 carries that he had he gained 143 yards and score two touchdowns.

One of them came on this 89-yard run:

The other two touches were on kickoffs one of which he returned 100 yards for another touchdown:

Most of this year's candidates are going pro so the field will be wide open for next year's Heisman, but if Fournette continues to improve he is going to be hard to beat.
