LSU Takes Jab at Texas A&M in John Chavis Lawsuit

LSU was not happy when the rumors about their defensive coordinator John Chavis possibly leaving the team for Texas A&M began to swirl, and were certainly not happy when they turned out to be much more than just rumors. Its understandable of course. He was an integral part of the team's success and they are certainly going to miss him this coming season.

Rather than just accept it and move LSU is opted to go for a little revenge on Chavis and is suing him for $400,000. In a recent filing LSU decided to go ahead and throw a little shade at the Aggies.

LSU officials are challenging the suit that Chavis brought in a Texas court against them by saying that the court does not have jurisdiction (The Advocate):
“The only fact implicating Texas (in the suit) is that Chavis happened to defect to Texas A&M and chose to begin working for A&M before his service to LSU was complete,” the new filing says. “Notwithstanding the Aggies dire need for defensive help, Chavis could have defected to a college or professional team in any state, or even in a foreign country.”
Dire need for defensive help.  Well--you can't argue with that. For the last two seasons Texas A&M has had one of the worst defenses in college football. Why they felt the need to say so in a legal document or how it is relevant to the proceeding is a mystery.

LSU is claiming that Chavis has been working for Texas A&M since shortly after the Music City Bowl. As proof they cite the many images on social media off Chavis decked out in Aggie gear recruiting for his new team. Officially, he did not start till February 13 and did not start earning a paycheck till that point.

As if things were not muddied enough Chavis has sued LSU for over $200,000 in unpaid incentives and vacation time.
